Advent Season Activities  

Room Parents have planned a wonderful Christmas Party on Friday.  Please send your child with a $5-$6 grab bag gift.

Monday is the last day to turn in your favorite Holiday Recipe for our class book.

Also, please support our Mitten Project. A letter went home in Friday Folders.

We will conduct classroom SPELLING BEE's on Monday.  Winners advance to whole school Spelling Bee. 

Keep practicing your songs for the Christmas Music Show on Thursday.

MATH 

Fourth Grade 
4th graders will take a Diocesan Assessment based on the Area Extended Response sheet sent home on Friday. It will also count as a graded homework assignment.  We will get a Computation Review WS for homework over the break.  Please practice your multiplication facts (flashcards still work for this).Use Carmen San Diego Math Models, Skill 20-22, to practice skills in Chapter 5. Remember we need to share logins 1-4 at this time. 

Multiplication Facts: Students are aware that they are responsible for Mastering multiplication facts up to 10. Please practice your multiplication facts (flashcards still work for this).  Most students should be on the  4s, 9s, or 3s now having passed 2s and 5s. You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com, play online games (see Math Websites Tab above), or borrow some "Holey Cards" from Mrs. Hall. 

Fifth Grade  
5th graders will take the 2nd Diocesan Assessment on Tuesday the problem very similar to the Area Extended Response Homework Sheet handed out on Friday. This will also count as a graded homework assignment. 5th graders will also be given the Decimal Menu Project before break, just in case they want to gather ideas over break. The project will be due on Friday, January 16. Use Carmen San Diego Math Models, Skills 20-21, to help with Chapter 5 skills. GOMATH Online Access:  To use the website we should continue to share the logins for numbers 1 - 4 ( instead of individual student numbers). 

Multiplication Facts: Continue practicing multiplication facts at home. You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com, play online games (see Math Websites Tab above), or borrow some "Holey Cards" from Mrs. Hall.

             We will finish Maniac Magee this week. There will be a Unit Test (open book) on Friday (LAST TEST OF 2014)!

             Unit 8 Workbook will be due on Monday, 12/15.

We continue to explore Advent traditions this week. The Rough Drafts for the Catholic School Week (all school) writing assignment will be due on Thursday, 12/18. . We will share Saint Reports as we have time.

Week of December 8

Advent Season Activities  Our schedule is a bit different this week as we celebrate Mass on Monday, listen to a Band Concert on Tuesday, go to Reconciliation on Wednesday and continue with our Holiday Show practices!

Parents, you should have received Iowa Test Results in Friday Folders as well. 

MATH 

Fourth Grade 
4th graders will take Day 2 of the Chapter 4 test on Monday, then begin Chapter 5.  We will cover Lessons 1 and 2 on factors and divisibility rules and take a quiz on Friday. We also start preparing for a 2nd Diocesan Extended Response Assessment by reviewing formulas for Area and Perimeter.   Use Carmen San Diego Math Models, Skill 20-21, to practice skills in Chapter 4. Remember we need to share logins 1-4 at this time.

4th graders will begin Chapter 3 and explore the effects of electric charges on matter. Students will discover how objects get an electric charge and how electric current flows. Possible quiz on Friday for Lesson 1. studying for Chapter 2 Test, which will be given on Thursday, December 4th. 

Fifth Grade 
5th graders will have Chapter 2 Test on Monday. Students will begin the Weather PRoject on Sunday, December 7th and keep a weather log till Sunday December 14th. This is an introduction to the Climate Chapter. Students will be working on a Diocesan Assessment the rest of the week.
