Week of January 28th

                                                      Fifth Grade Math
We are forging ahead with Fractions, Chapter 5. This week we will cover equivalent fractions, problem solving, simplifying fractions and identifying least common denominator of 2 fractions.  These skills are needed to compare, add, and subtract with fractions.  An open notes quiz will be held on Friday. Students are taking timed Multiplication Facts practices this week.  They should continue to brush up on their multiplication and division facts to decrease difficulty with fractions.

    Fourth Grade Math
Fourth graders are beginning Chapter 6 which deals with multiplication by 2-digit numbers.  They will be multiplying by powers of 10, multiplying 2-digit numbers using area models, traditional regrouping methods and problem solving.   An open notes quiz will be held on Friday.
