MATH
Fourth Grade Math
We continue work on Chapter 4, Division. We will cover Lessons in the following order so that we learn the traditional long division method first, then focus on Common Core division methods the following week.
Monday - Lesson 4.7: Repeated subtraction (homework in Student Edition)
Tuesday - Lesson 4.9: Long Division modeling & method
Wednesday - Lesson 4.10: Placing the first digit
Thursday - Lesson 4.11: Long Division - Review and check by multiplying
Friday - Quiz covering estimating with compatible numbers and the
standard method of division.
The Math Websites Tab contains some videos on Long Division. A good way to practice is to use the GoMath website, choosing "Carmen San Diego Animated Math Models" Grade 4 icon (skills 13 and 14). Also, students should continue strengthening Multiplication Facts. You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com (website listed in Tab above).
Fifth Grade Math
We will continue with Chapter 4, Multiplying Decimals. We review the topics in Lessons 1-4 on Monday, then proceed with Lessons 5 - 8. On Friday there will be a Quiz on estimating and multiplying with decimals. Students will be assigned the Student Edition Chapter Review on Friday. The Chapter 4 Test will be scheduled for Wednesday, December 11. A good way to practice skills is to use the GoMath website, choosing "Carmen San Diego Animated Math Models Grade 5 icon. The Math Websites Tab contains some videos that review multiplying with decimals.

Fourth Grade
We will begin studying for Chapter 2 Test "Force and Motion", on Thursday, December 5th.
Fifth Grade
We will begin studying for Chapter 2 Test "Earth's Resources", on Thursday, December 5th.
Reading, Spelling & Vocab Highlights
Reading: We read Storytown Lesson 9, Leonardo's Horse, after discussing
background of Leonardo da Vinci. The Reading Websites Tab contains
a link to his biography and lists his accomplishments. We continue to
practice comprehension skills using graphic organizers and practice the
skill of Sequencing.
Spelling: Lesson 15
Mrs. Hall's class: Workbooks due on Thursday.
Mrs. Stillo's class: Workbooks due on Friday.
Test and 5x each assignment on Friday.
Remember to review Spelling Bee List. We will hold a 5th grade
classroom spelling bee no earlier than 12/12.
Vocabulary: Unit 8 Vocab Cards will be due on Friday 12/6.
Religion
We prepare for Reconciliation, which will take place on Wednesday, welcome
the season of advent, and continue work on Sacrament Booklets.
