Week of April 27

MATH 

Fourth Grade 

4th graders will complete Chapter 10, after exploring Quadrilaterals and Lines of Symmetry.  They will have the Chapter Test on Friday.  A How-to-Study Sheet and Practice Book Extra Practice can be completed for Extra Credit on this test.  Use Carmen San Diego Math Models Skills to practice concepts from Chapter 10: Lines, Angles, Triangles, Quadrilaterals, and Symmetry. We share logins 1-4 at this time.  

Multiplication Facts: Students should be practicing their facts at home on a regular basis. There will be an oral/verbal Facts test near the end of the year.  You can print your own worksheets to practice from Math-drills.com, play online games (see Math Websites Tab above), or borrow some "Holey Cards" from Mrs. Hall. 

Fifth Grade  

5th graders will wrap up Chapter 10 after studying the Metric system, Elapsed Time and Problem Solving. There will be a Chapter Test on Friday.  We are reviewing previous skills by completing a Chapter Review in the Student Edition each weekend.  Use Carmen San Diego Math Models, to help with Chapter 10 skills. A How-to-Study Sheet and Practice Book Extra Practice can be completed for Extra Credit on this test.  

Multiplication Facts: Continue practicing multiplication facts at home, including the 11s and 12s. You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com, play online games (see Math Websites Tab above), or borrow some "Holey Cards" from Mrs. Hall. Math Help/Club Hours 
After School (students need a "travel note")
4th Graders only: Tue. 2:20pm  - 3:15pm
5th Graders only:  Wed.  2:20pm - 3:15pm
Before School (students need a "Mrs. Hall permission note")
Both 4th and 5th Graders:
 Wednesday and Fridays from 7:15am - 7:45am 
Also, Mrs. Lux will be available at 7:20am on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays to assist students as well!


SCIENCE 


Fourth Grade 

4th graders will continue working on Lesson 4 to learn how plants grow from seeds and find out about the mature stage of a flowering plant's life cycle. There should be a quiz on Lesson 4 on Wednesday, April 29th.  We will go back and complete the activity about the flower's parts and then begin studying for the Chapter 1 - Test. 
Fifth Grade 

5th graders will complete the activity investigating the inheritance of genes and trails by making a model. We will begin learning how scientists studied genes and chromosomes. We will make a time-line of the scientists and accomplishments. We will also learn how people use what is known about inheritance.

               Comprehension Skills: Summarizing, Fact & Opinion


Spelling (Purple Spelling Practice Book): 
            Lesson 25 this week.  
                         
Vocabulary (Blue Workbook):                      
           Unit 16  Workbook is due and will be corrected on Friday. 
           Unit 16 Test on Monday, May 4th.

            Vocabulary practice and games.   
         

Religion

We will continue with Family Life this week, covering the Unit: God's Gift of Self and make Family Flowers.
