MATH
Fourth Grade Math
We will finish up Chapter 3, Multiplying by 2-digit numbers this week covering lessons 4 - 7. We will use the Regrouping, Area Model and Partial Product Methods to solve multiplication problems. So far, students prefer the Area Model method to the traditional Regrouping Method. Students are encouraged to use any method to solve problems as long as they try each method on at least one homework problem. There will be a graded homework assignment due Thursday (Student Edition Pages 117 - 118, Mid-Chapter Checkpoint). Chapter 3 Test is planned for Wednesday November 13. We continue weekly Multiplication Facts timed practice drills.
Fifth Grade Math
We cover Chapter 3 Decimals, Lessons 4 - 7 this week. These lessons cover rounding, adding, subtracting and estimating with decimals (through the thousandths). Students receive a graded homework assignment due Thursday using Student Edition pages 117-118 Mid-Chapter Checkpoint. NOTE: The Fifth Grade Extra Math Help will be on Tuesday this week. Mrs. Hall will attend a Common Core Math seminar on Wednesday. We continue weekly Multiplication Facts timed practice drills.

Fourth Grade
Students take a Quiz on Lesson 1 on Monday (11-4). Then, we begin Lesson 2 "How Does Energy Affect Motion?"
Fifth Grade
We take a Quiz on Lesson one on Monday (11-4). We will begin Lesson 2 "How Can Water Resources Be Protected?"
Reading, Spelling & Vocab Highlights
Reading: Storytown, Lesson 7, When the Circus Came to Town
- We continue to use the Ask Questions comprehension strategy and
practice skills of identifying Theme using character traits.
- Comprehension and Vocabulary Test on Thursday.
Spelling: Lesson 11
We will complete workbook pages by Wednesday this Week and have
a test on Thursday.
The 5x each assignment is also due on Thursday.
Vocabulary:
Unit 6 Workbook due on Thursday.
Unit 6 Test on Tuesday (11/12).
Religion
We wrap up Chapter 3 this week continuing to discuss the sacraments as signs of God's presence along with other signs from scripture stories. We review concepts on Wednesday and take an open book Test on Thursday.
