MATH
Fourth Grade Math
4th Graders will wrap up Chapter 5: Factors, Multiples and Patterns this week. On Wednesday, there will be a short quiz, covering Lessons 1 - 4 (Factors, Multiples and divisibility rules. The Chapter Review will be assigned for homework on Thursday (evens) and Friday (Odds). The Chapter 5 Test is planned for Wednesday, January 22. Students did well on Friday's Computation Test! To practice skills for Chapter 5 see "Carmen San Diego Animated Math Models" Grade 4 icon (skills 20, 21, 22). Also, students should continue strengthening Multiplication Facts. You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com (website listed in Tab above).
Fifth Grade Math
Fifth graders will finish Chapter 5: Decimal Division this week and take a quiz on Friday. The Chapter Review (evens) will be assigned for the long weekend. The Chapter 5 Test will be on Thursday, January 23. We discussed a Decimal Project due on Friday, January 25th. The students will create a Restaurant Menu or Store and create customer orders that use operations with decimals. Construction paper is available in my room to complete the project. SCIENCE
Fourth Grade
Students will be taking a Lesson 2 Quiz and complete each other's quizzes, open book. We will be making series and parallel cirucuits and work on the Diocesan Assessment on How to Construct a Simple Circuit.
Fifth Grade
Students will be taking a Lesson 2 Quiz. In groups, they will be rereading and answering questions for Lesson 3. They will complete each other's quizzes and Lesson 3 quiz, open book.
Reading, Spelling & Vocab Highlights
Reading: Storytown: Sailing Home - Comprehension Test will be Tuesday.
We begin Lesson 12: The Ultimate Field Trip, an Informational genre,
on Tuesday after the test. We plan to have the Lesson 12
Comprehension Test on Friday, if all goes as planned.
Students will edit rough drafts for their personal and academic goals
essay. Final copies will be due Wednesday or Thursday.
Spelling: Lesson 19 (Review Lesson 18 was done last week for the short week)
Mrs. Hall's class: Workbooks due on Thursday.
Mrs. Stillo's class: Workbooks due on Friday.
Test and 5x each assignment on Friday.
Vocabulary: Unit 9 Test Monday, Jan. 13th.
Unit 10 Vocab Cards are due on Friday.
Religion
We wrap up Chapter 4: The Mystery of God, with an open book test on Wednesday. We will be sending home permission slips shortly for our field trip to St. Raymond's Church for Cathedral Days.
