Week of April 7

WELCOME BACK - WE HOPE EVERYONE HAD A HEALTHY, RELAXING BREAK!

MATH

Fourth Grade Math
4th graders will review the first 2 Lessons of Chapter 8, Multiplying Fractions and Whole numbers, then finish up the next 3 Lessons.  It is a short chapter, so we will plan to start the Chapter 8 test on Friday.  All the written response Diocesan tests are completed for the year, and the students did well!  We will spend more time this quarter reviewing computation skills learned this year as we continue to learn new skills. This quarter, retakes of tests and quizzes will be given for scores below 70% (instead of 75% last quarter).
Reminders:
The GoMath online activities offer good ways to practice the Math skills we have learned or will learn. Students have the login information. You can access the website from the Math Websites Tab above. For fraction skills covered in Chapter 8, logon to GoMath activities  "Carmen San Diego Animated Math Models" Grade 4 icon (skill 33) and Mega Math Fraction Action.
Students should practice Multiplication and Division basic facts frequently with worksheets, flashcards or websites.  You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com, play online games (see Math Websites Tab above), or borrow some "Holey Cards" from Mrs. Hall.

Fifth Grade Math

5th graders finished up all the Diocesan Written Response Assessments for the year and did very well!  On Monday, we will review Lessons 1-4 of Chapter 7, Multiplying Fractions and finish the Chapter by Friday.  We will have quiz Friday and the Chapter 7 test on Tuesday, April 15th.  Line Plot project is due Wed., April 9th.  Students rough drafts for the Math Coordinate Grid writing assignments will be returned on Monday, April 7th.  Final copies are due on Friday, April 11th.
Reminders:
The GoMath online activities offer good ways to practice Math skills. To practice skills for Chapter 7, GoMath Carmen San Diego Animated Math Models for Skills 27-28, and Mega Math "Fraction Action".
Multiplication facts are very important for Fraction skills. Students should practice these skills frequently with worksheets, flashcards or websites.  You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com (website listed in Tab above).
