Week of October 27

GOMATH Online Access:  To use the website we should continue to share the logins for numbers 1 - 4 ( instead of individual student numbers).

MATH

Fourth Grade
4th graders will continue with Chapter 3, Multiplying by 2-digit numbers this week.  We will cover Lessons 5, then 3,4, and 6. Lesson 5 covering the multiplying 2-digit numbers using the Regrouping method (the standard method most people use). Lessons 3 & 4 explain the area model and partial product methods. Students should try these methods, however, they should master the regrouping method. There will be a quiz on Friday covering Estimating Products and Multiplying 2-digit numbers.
Use Carmen San Diego Math Models, Skills 11-12, to practice skills in Chapter 3. Remember we need to share logins 1-4 at this time.

Multiplication Facts: Students were timed for 5s last week.  If they met their goal, they will proceed to the 3s and 4s.  Continue to practice 2s, 5s, 3s and squares (3x3, 4x4,...) this week. You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com, play online games (see Math Websites Tab above), or borrow some "Holey Cards" from Mrs. Hall.

Fifth Grade
5th graders will continue with Chapter 3, Decimals. We will review Lessons 1 & 2 (decimal place value and expanded form) and then cover Lessons 3-6 this week. Friday's Quiz will cover lessons 1-5.  Use Carmen San Diego Math Models, Skills 16-18, to help with Chapter 3 skills.

Multiplication Facts: Continue practicing multiplication facts. We will progress to the 3s, 4s, 5s and 9s in the upcoming weeks. Memorizing the squares early on (2x2,3x3,4x4) will help as we progress. You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com, play online games (see Math Websites Tab above), or borrow some "Holey Cards" from Mrs. Hall.
