Week of October 13


GOMATH Online Access:  To use the website we should continue to share the logins for numbers 1 - 4 ( instead of individual student numbers).

MATH 

Fourth Grade 
4th graders will wrap up Chapter 2 with orders of operations Lesson 12 on Tuesday.  We will review on Wednesday and receive a "How-to-Study" sheet and Extra Credit instructions to prepare for the Chapter 2 Test on Thursday. 4th graders will receive a Quarter 1 Computation Review WS for Homework on the weekend to prepare for a Quarterly Computation Test the following week.

Use Carmen San Diego Math Models, Skills 5-12, to practice skills in Chapter 2. Remember we need to share logins 1-4 at this time. 

Multiplication Facts: Students were timed for 2s last week.  If they met their goal, they will proceed to the 5s.  Continue to practice 5s and squares (3x3, 4x4,...) this week. You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com, play online games (see Math Websites Tab above), or borrow some "Holey Cards" from Mrs. Hall. 

Fifth Grade  
5th graders will finish Chapter 2, Lesson 9 on Tuesday, Review concepts on Wednesday and receive instructions for the How-to-Study Extra Credit packet. Thursday is the Chapter 2 Test. Use Carmen San Diego Math Models, Skills 8-14, to help prepare for the Chapter 2 test. 5th graders will receive a Quarter 1 Computation Review WS for Homework on the weekend to prepare for a Quarterly Computation Test the following week. 

Multiplication Facts: Continue practicing multiplication facts. We will progress to the 5s, 4s and 9s in the upcoming weeks. Memorizing the squares early on (2x2, 3x3,4x4..) will help as we progress. You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com, play online games (see Math Websites Tab above), or borrow some "Holey Cards" from Mrs. Hall.

SCIENCE 

Fourth Grade 


4th graders will be learning about physical changes in matter, Lesson 4. We should be having a Quiz by Thursday. 

Fifth Grade 

5th graders will be learning about the Rock Cycle and how rocks change form. We should be having a Quiz by Friday. 

Reading, Spelling & Vocab Highlights
             Final Copy for Cheating Essay is due on Tuesday, October 14. 
Reading: StoryTown Lesson 8 Washington Crosses the Delaware
             Genre: Narrative Non-fiction written by Mrs. Cheney
             We will practice comprehension skills of sequencing, character 
             motivation and author's purpose. 
             Comprehension Test on Friday.

             Book Reports due on Friday (extended 2 days). Nice job so far!

Spelling (Purple Spelling Practice Book): 
            Lesson 7 WB due Thursday. Test and 5x each due Friday.
               
Vocabulary (Blue Workbook):                     
            Unit 4 WB due on Friday.
            Unit 4 Test: Mrs. Hall on Monday, Mrs. Stillo on Tuesday. 
            Students, with the help of parents, should consider creating a login ID 
                to our vocabulary book to access games, practice, definitions and
                more. See Link and instructions found in the Reading Websites Tab
                above.  

Religion

This week we wrap up Chapter 2, God's Plan for All Creation, with a Review and Open Book Test.  We begin Chapter 3, Signs of God's Presence on Thursday.

There will be a written Basketball Quiz in Gym on Monday, October 20th.  Mr. Baldwin found a good website, quizlet, to help review skills. Click here to access the website.
