Week of May 11

MATH 

Fourth Grade 

4th graders continue with Chapter 12 and will have a quiz on Customary Measurement conversions on Monday.  We will learn metrics the rest of the week and will have a quiz on Metrics the following week.  We continue to review previous skills by completing Chapter 5 Review/Test in the Student Edition. That assignment is due on Tuesday and will be used as a graded homework assignment). Use Carmen San Diego Math Models Skills to practice concepts from Chapter 12. We share logins 1-4.  

Multiplication Facts: Students should be practicing their facts at home on a regular basis. Worksheets were given for practice. Starting on Monday, students will be given an oral/verbal Facts Fluency Assessment.  You can print your own worksheets to practice from Math-drills.com, play online games (see Math Websites Tab above), or borrow some "Holey Cards" from Mrs. Hall. 

Fifth Grade  

5th graders will take their Quiz on Monday, covering Lessons 1 - 3 (polygons, triangles, and quadrilaterals). The Student Edition Chapter 7 Review/Test will be due on Tuesday (used as a graded homework assignment).  Students received an assignment to use Carmen San Diego Math Models, to help with Chapter 11 skills, to be collected on Friday May 15th. 

Multiplication Facts: Continue practicing multiplication facts at home, including the 11s and 12s. There will be an oral/verbal test before the end of the school year.

After School (students need a "travel note")
4th Graders only: Tue. 2:20pm  - 3:15pm
5th Graders only:  Wed.  2:20pm - 3:15pm
Before School (students need a "Mrs. Hall permission note")
Both 4th and 5th Graders:
 Wednesday and Fridays from 7:15am - 7:45am 
Also, Mrs. Lux will be available at 7:20am on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays to assist students as well!

SCIENCE 

Fourth Grade 

4th graders will find the similarities and differences among certain animals in Lesson 1.

Fifth Grade 

5th graders will complete the review for the Chapter 2 Test, and complete the test on Tuesday, May 12th. 

Reading, Spelling & Vocab Highlights             
Reading:  Crash, by Jerry Spinelli  (continuing)
               Genre: Realistic Fiction
               Comprehension Skills practiced by students assuming roles of
                    "Discussion Director", "Passage Picker", "Connector" and
                    "Summarizer".
               Quiz on Tuesday (Chapters 1-8).
Spelling (Purple Spelling Practice Book): 
            Lesson 27 this week.  Workbook due Thursday.
            Test and 5x each due Friday. 
                         
Vocabulary (Blue Workbook):                      
           Unit 17 Test on Monday, May 18th. 
           Unit 17 WB due Friday, May 15th.

Religion

We will begin Chapter 10, The Church's Message, this week as students learn about the 4 Marks of the Church.
