MATH
Fourth Grade
This week we are reviewing
all the concepts and strategies of Division. (Chapter 4) Students will be
getting notes that they will glue into their Math notebooks. Our test on Chapter 4 will be on Friday.
Your student will receive another “How to Study” worksheet so he/she can
prepare for the test. They will also receive a division packet (no calculators
please). I am adopting a “no work – less credit” policy for homework. That is
for my benefit as well as theirs. Homework is where we learn from our mistakes
not just get the right answer. Please have your student come to class this week
armed with questions. So far they are enjoying all facets of Division.
Fifth Grade
5th graders will begin Chapter 5, Dividing with Decimals. We will cover lessons 1-4 dividing with powers of 10 and dividing decimals by whole numbers. There will be a quiz on Friday. We will continue with weekly timed tests. This week we will do mixed from 1-12 facts on Wednesday.

Religion
We are well under way into the Advent Season and our Advent Booklets are making this season of “Hope and Expectation” extra special. So far your student has made an Advent Wheel and created a Christmas “Haiku”. This week we are reading the first chapter in Luke about the “Immaculate Conception” and Christ’s birth. We are also going to write a short paragraph on how we are putting “Christ in Christmas”. Your student will be viewing an Advent DVD all about the traditions and symbols of the season, but the emphasis is still that Jesus is “The Reason for the Season”.
