MATH
Fourth Grade
This week we are continuing our exploration
of Division by learning Partial Quotients. The students will discover that
division can also be done as repeated subtraction. Along with the mechanics of
the standard algorithm of long division, your student will be learning where to
place the first digit in the quotient and the reason behind it. We will be
doing our mid-chapter checkpoint to assess our progress thus far. Please tell
your students to bring all questions to class. We are emphasizing the skill of
correcting errors on homework as a way to study for tests. We will be doing a
review for the second quarter
computation test which will be on Thursday. On Friday we will have the 11’s
fact test.
Fifth Grade
5th graders will wrap up Chapter 4, Multiplying Decimals, this week with a test on Thursday and Friday. A How-to-Study sheet and extra practice worksheet will be available to help prepare for the test. This week, fifth grade will test on the twelves multiplication facts on Wednesday.
4th & 5th Grade Multiplication Facts
Most fourth graders should aim for completing 25 facts per minute and fifth graders should aim for completing 30 facts per minute. You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com, play online games (see "Math Websites Tab" above), or borrow some "Holey Cards" from Mrs. Hall.

Religion
This week marks the beginning of Advent. We
have put together a short booklet of information and activities for Advent.
Sometimes with all the other activities of the Christmas Season we tend to
forget that Advent is a time of expectation of the birth of Jesus Christ. We
are also beginning Chapter 5, the exploration of worship, reverence, and
liturgy. This is a good time for the students to reflect on ways we can worship
God as the Christmas season approaches and that worshipping God is the true
meaning of what Christmas is all about.
