MATH
Fourth Grade
Due to Valentine’s Day activities, we had to postpone our celebration
of 100 Days of Math. Hopefully we will celebrate it on Tuesday. Please send in the permission slips for
treats on that day, if you haven’t done so already. The treats are Rice
Krispies Treats and Smart Pop. If your student received a retake packet for the
Chapter 6 test, it is due 2-16-16. There will be a short Quiz on Friday Feb. 19 on addition and subtraction of
fractions with like denominators.
Fifth Grade
5th graders will celebrate 100 days of Math on Tuesday by completing 100 second challenges and playing Fraction, Decimal, Percent Bingo. We will jump into Chapter 7 Multiplying Fractions, by starting with Multiplying fractions by Whole Numbers. We end the week presenting our Decimal Restaurant projects and shopping using our estimating skills.
4th & 5th Grade Multiplication Facts
Most fourth graders should aim for completing 25 facts per minute and fifth graders should aim for completing 30 facts per minute. Some fifth graders have PASSED all their multiplication facts quizzes. You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com, play online games (see "Math Websites Tab" above), or borrow some "Holey Cards" from Mrs. Hall.
Fifth graders will begin retesting on facts they have not yet mastered this week. Each student received a list of facts to practice each week.

Religion
Hopefully, this coming week we will begin Chapter 7. Last week was filled with Lenten activities, The Stations of the Cross, and discussions about how we can make this Lenten Season more meaningful. We made crosses with sacrificial promises to Pray, Give, and Fast. Your student was also given two Lenten Calendars- one for school and one for home. These calendars are to be a record of what your child has done each day to remember Jesus and His sacrifice for us. This Tuesday is our classroom Mass. The theme of our Mass is: What we do for others, we do for Jesus. Your student was also given a Stations of the Cross Booklet. In it they are to write reflections of each station ar. The first three reflections are due on Friday the 19th.
Upcoming events are: Cathedral Days (April), Class Mass on the 16th of February, and the Stations of the Cross on Fridays during Lent.
