We hope everyone has a wonderful Easter
and a fun, safe and restful Spring Break!
and a fun, safe and restful Spring Break!
MATH
Fourth Grade
Although this is going to be a
short week, we will be taking two Diocesan Assessments: one involving fractions
and the other solving a number pattern problem. I will do an example with the
class before both assessments. The first
will be on Monday and the second on Wednesday. The chapter 8 test will not
be until after Spring Break. Your student will be given a Middle of the Year
Assessment to be completed over the break. I am not using it as a test, but it
will be counted as homework. If they really do not understand a problem they
can skip it. I’ll try to go over some of the problems before break. I hope you
have Blessed Easter and a restful Spring Break.
Fifth Grade
5th graders will take two Diocesan Assessments this week involving multi-step fraction Addition/Subtraction and plotting points on a coordinate grids. We will try to complete Chapter 8 Lesson 5 this week. Depending on how far we get, part of the Chapter 8 review may be for homework over the break, along with a fraction problem solving packet.
4th & 5th Grade Multiplication Facts
Most fourth graders should aim for completing 25 facts per minute and fifth graders should aim for completing 30 facts per minute. Some fifth graders have PASSED all their multiplication facts quizzes. You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com, play online games (see "Math Websites Tab" above), or borrow some "Holey Cards" from Mrs. Hall.
Fifth graders will begin retesting on facts they have not yet mastered this week. Each student received a list of facts to practice each week.

Religion
This week we are continuing our study of the
parables of Jesus. Some of the parables we will be discussing are: The Sower
and the Seed, The Good Samaritan, The Prodigal Son, and the Pearl of Great
Price. We will also be discussing how the Kingdom of God was evidenced in the
way Jesus taught, healed the sick, forgave sinners, and welcomed the outcasts.
Ask your student about Holy Week, the Triduum, and the symbols of the Easter
Season. We learned about them last week. I hope you have
a Blessed Easter and make sure to send in your field trip slips.
