MATH
Fourth Grade
This week we are winding up chapter 7 and
having our test on Tuesday and
Wednesday. Monday we will finish reviewing so have your students bring
questions. The Math Project: Adding Unlike Denominators will be due on
Wednesday. I’ve extended it to give the students more time to think of their
“Word Problems”. I hope they will be as creative as the Shamrocks!
Fifth Grade
5th graders will have a review of computation skills and vocabulary this week. The 3rd Quarter Computation Test will be held Wednesday, March 9th. The review sheet the students are doing for homework is exactly like the test, however the test will have fewer problems. There will be a Vocabulary Test on Friday covering vocabulary from Chapters 4 -7. A study guide will be given on Wednesday and students will be responsible for creating a Vocab "Taboo" card and examples of each vocab word as part of their study guide. We will be practicing simplifying expressions on our Shamrock Ice Cream cones all through the month of March.
4th & 5th Grade Multiplication Facts
Most fourth graders should aim for completing 25 facts per minute and fifth graders should aim for completing 30 facts per minute. Some fifth graders have PASSED all their multiplication facts quizzes. You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com, play online games (see "Math Websites Tab" above), or borrow some "Holey Cards" from Mrs. Hall.
Fifth graders will begin retesting on facts they have not yet mastered this week. Each student received a list of facts to practice each week.

Religion
This week we are continuing our study of both the Divinity and humanity of Jesus Christ. Last week we went through the Gospel of John and read about some of the miracles that Jesus performed. This week we will explore His humanity when we read the account of His birth and the visitation of the Magi. We will also discuss some of the names and titles of Jesus and what they signify. The reflections of the Stations 7 through 9 are due on Monday. We are also reading our Saint Reports. They are inspiring and very well done.
Upcoming events are: Cathedral Days (April), Class Mass on the 16th of February, and the Stations of the Cross on Fridays during Lent.
