Week of May 23

MATH

Fourth Grade

Now that we are approaching the finish line we will be having two tests this week. First will be the Computation Test on Tuesday/ Wednesday. We will review on Monday and have questions and refreshers of the concepts we have covered throughout the year. They will take home the review to study for the test. The second test will be another Quest (combination test and quiz) on Friday. Quests are shorter versions of the chapter tests, but are weighted as tests. Friday’s Quest will be on Chapter 12. I feel that we have accomplished a lot in a year that seems to have gone by so fast. I am very proud of all my students and I hope I have inspired them to one day pursue a career in Mathematics. (Tuesday, May 24 will be the last Math Help class.)

Fifth Grade

Students really showed how much they've learned this year on the Computation Test given last week. Many students received scores in the 90s!  This week we will wrap up Chapter 11 and have a QUEST (shortened version of a test) on Wednesday.  We will then finish out the year by reviewing key 5th grade skills using notes, whiteboards and games.  All students will receive a Getting Ready for 6th Grade Packet. We will do a few lessons in that packet and they can work on it over the summer if they choose. It's been an exciting year and students have learned all the basics to be successful in 6th grade.

4th & 5th Grade Multiplication Facts

THE LAST FACTS QUIZ will be given on Wednesday this week.  You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com, play online games (see "Math Websites Tab" above), or borrow some "Holey Cards" from Mrs. Hall.

Fifth graders will begin retesting on facts they have not yet mastered this week.  Each student received a list of facts to practice each week.

Religion

This week we will be having our Chapter 11 Test on Wednesday, May25. The students will be given study notes on Monday, as it will be their last test of the year. We are a little behind due to all the activities and rehearsals for V.I.P. Week. Chapter 12 is about the saints as Models of the Faith, so we will be reading about the lives of Padre Pio, St. Teresa of Avila, St Patrick, and many more. We will also be covering the life of Mary, Queen of Saints, from the Annunciation to the Crucifixion. We have had a good year and I have enjoyed our class discussions about the joys as well as the struggles of life. My prayer is that with each passing year, they will grow in their faith and remain true to their call, whatever that may be.
