4th graders will wrap up Chapter 6 with Lessons 6 - 8 this week. These lessons focus on finding common denominators and using equivalent fractions to compare and order fractions. Students will receive a Chapter Review packet on Tuesday to help them prepare for Chapter 6 Test. The test will be given in 2 parts on Friday, February 14 (multiple choice questions) and Tuesday, February 18. For fraction skills covered this chapter, logon to GoMath activities "Carmen San Diego Animated Math Models" Grade 4 icon (skills 21 - 26) and Mega Math Fraction Action. Multiplication facts are very important for fraction skills! Students should practice these skills frequently with worksheets, flashcards or websites. You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com or play online games (see Math websites listed in the Tab above).
Fifth Grade Math
5th graders will continue with Chapter 6 lessons 4-9 this week. Students will add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators, including mixed numbers and renaming fractions ("borrowing"). They will also identify patterns and rules using fractions. There will be a short quiz on Friday and a Valentine math activity. To help with Fraction skills covered in this chapter, students should logon to the GoMath Carmen San Diego Animated Math Models for Skills 22-25, and Mega Math "Fraction Action". Multiplication facts are very important for Fraction skills. Students should practice these skills frequently with worksheets, flashcards or websites. SCIENCE
Fourth Grade
We will being the new lessons on sound. We will learn how sound is made, some properties of sound and discover how sound travels. A quiz on Lesson 3 should be on Thursday, February 13th.
Fifth Grade
We are learning about constellations. We will have a special packet to learn more. A quiz on the packet should be on Wednesday, February 12th.

We will begin Chapter 6: Doing Good, this week. This chapter discusses the Great Commandment and morals as they relate to the cardinal virtues of prudence, temperance, fortitude and justice.
