Week of March 24

Fourth and Fifth Graders did a WONDERFUL job on Stations of the Cross!
One more week until Spring Break!
Please note:   Mrs. Hall will not be at school this week.  As a result, Math Help will not be available. 



MATH 

Fourth Grade Math
4th graders take a Computation Test on Monday similar to last week's computation homework assignments.  Students will finish up the Diocesan Written Response Assessments this week. Students will also spend time reviewing the Math skills learned this year.  Homework assignments will include written responses to prepare for the Diocesan Test and the Chapter Review/Tests from their Student Edition Book (larger book).  
  
Reminders:  
      The GoMath online activities offer good ways to practice the Math skills we have learned or will learn. Students have the login information. You can access the website from the Math Websites Tab above. For fraction skills covered in Chapter 8, logon to GoMath activities  "Carmen San Diego Animated Math Models" Grade 4 icon (skill 33) and Mega Math Fraction Action. 
      Students should practice Multiplication and Division basic facts frequently with worksheets, flashcards or websites.  You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com, play online games (see Math Websites Tab above), or borrow some "Holey Cards" from Mrs. Hall.

Fifth Grade Math 

5th graders will finish up the Diocesan Written Response Assessments this week.  They will also review prior concepts using a Review Packet and their Student Edition.  They will be assigned graded homework from the Student Edition Chapter Review/Tests.  Students will create a coordinate grid of their own designed neighborhood.  A Written Response Rough Draft of the assignment is Due on Wednesday. The Line Plot Graph Project assigned last week is due April 9th. We spent time in class starting out the assignment.  Students may choose to use Excel to show their graph. 
   
Reminders:  
       The GoMath online activities offer good ways to practice Math skills. To practice skills for Chapter 7, GoMath Carmen San Diego Animated Math Models for Skills 27-28, and Mega Math "Fraction Action".  
       Multiplication facts are very important for Fraction skills. Students should practice these skills frequently with worksheets, flashcards or websites.  You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com (website listed in Tab above).

SCIENCE 

Fourth Grade 

4th graders will complete Lesson 2 and there will be a Quiz on Tuesday, March 25th. 

They will begin learning about pollination and fertilization of flowers and how it occurs.  If we are able to cover all the concepts from this lesson, there will be a quiz on Friday, March 28th for Lesson 3.  

Fifth Grade 

5th graders have a quiz on Lesson 4 on Monday. They will begin studying for the Chapter 1 Test, which is on Friday, March 28th.

Religion

We will wrap up Chapter 7, The Image of God. this week. Students will have an open book test later in the week. Great job on Stations of the Cross!
