MATH
Fourth Grade
4th graders will begin Chapter 4 Division as we learn to estimate quotients and discover remainders when we model division. No quiz this week. Use Carmen San Diego Math Models, Skills 13-15, to practice skills in Chapter 4. Remember we need to share logins 1-4 at this time.
Multiplication Facts: Students were timed for 4s last week. If they met their goal, they will proceed to the 9s then 3s (we discussed tips for learning your 9s). You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com, play online games (see Math Websites Tab above), or borrow some "Holey Cards" from Mrs. Hall.
Fifth Grade
5th graders will wrap up Chapter 3, Decimals. We will review our quizzes from Friday and correct the Chapter Review packet on Wednesday. We will continue our review on Thursday and take the Chapter 3 Test on Friday. Use Carmen San Diego Math Models, Skills 16-18, to help with Chapter 3 skills.
Multiplication Facts: Continue practicing multiplication facts. We will progress to the 5s, 9s and 3s in the upcoming weeks. Memorizing the squares early on (2x2,3x3,4x4) will help as we progress. You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com, play online games (see Math Websites Tab above), or borrow some "Holey Cards" from Mrs. Hall.

Before School (students need a "Mrs. Hall permission note")
Both 4th and 5th Graders:
Wednesday and Fridays from 7:15am - 7:45am
Also, Mrs. Lux will be available at 7:30am on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays to assist students as well.
SCIENCE
4th and 5th graders are writing a quiz for Lesson 2. The directions for writing the quizzes are in their science notebooks. The quizzes are due on Wednesday, 11-12-14.
Fourth Grade
4th graders will be learning about potential and kinetic energy.
Fifth Grade
5th graders will be learning about water resources.
Reading, Spelling & Vocab Highlights
Reading: Maniac Magee, by Jerry Spinelli
This week we begin our realistic fiction novel which we anticipate will
take us through December. We will practice
comprehension skills and complete packets pertaining to each chapter
in the book. We will also take vocabulary and comprehension quizzes
as we complete major sections of the book. We hope to complete
Chapters 1-12 this week.
Spelling (Purple Spelling Practice Book):
No Lesson for this short week.
Vocabulary (Blue Workbook):
Unit 6 Workbook is due on Friday.
Unit 6 Test on Monday, November 17.

Religion
This week will begin Chapter 4, The Trinity, after we complete a review of all 3 Chapters in Unit 1. We will share Saint Reports as we have time.
