MATH

Fourth Grade
4th graders continue with Chapter 4 Division as we learn to estimate quotients, interpret remainders as fractions and begin working with long division. We are covering lessons in the following order:  Monday - Lesson 4.5; Tuesday Lesson 4.2; Wednesday -Lesson 4.3; Thursday - Lessons 4.9 (and 4.6). Quiz on Friday covers division by powers of 10 (patterns), estimating quotients, turning remainders into fractions and one long division problem (2-digits divided by 1 digit) which can be solved in a few ways. Use Carmen San Diego Math Models, Skills 13-19, to practice skills in Chapter 4. Remember we need to share logins 1-4 at this time.

Multiplication Facts: Students were timed for 4s last week.  If they met their goal, they will proceed to the 9s then 3s (we discussed tips for learning your 9s). You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com, play online games (see Math Websites Tab above), or borrow some "Holey Cards" from Mrs. Hall.

Fifth Grade
5th graders begin Chapter 4, Multiplying Decimals. We cover lessons 1-5 this week multiplying decimals using powers of tens and multiplying whole numbers by decimals using models and regrouping (standard method).  We have a quiz on Friday.   Use Carmen San Diego Math Models, Skill 19, to help with Chapter 4 skills.

Multiplication Facts: Continue practicing multiplication facts at home. Memorizing the squares early on (2x2,3x3,4x4) will help as we progress. You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com, play online games (see Math Websites Tab above), or borrow some "Holey Cards" from Mrs. Hall.
