Week of January 19

MATH

Fourth Grade
4th graders will take a Computation Test on Tuesday, saving the long division problems on the test for Wednesday after reviewing that skill. Then, we begin working with Fractions, which will cover most of the 3rd quarter. We review previous concepts before jumping in to Chapter 6, Fraction Equivalence and Comparison. No quiz on Friday.  Use Skills 23-26, to practice concepts from Chapter 6. Remember we need to share logins 1-4 at this time.

Multiplication Facts: Students are aware that they are responsible for Mastering multiplication facts up to 10. Please continue to practice facts as we will work on Fractions most of the 3rd quarter.  Most students should be on the  4s, 9s, or 3s now having passed 2s and 5s. You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com, play online games (see Math Websites Tab above), or borrow some "Holey Cards" from Mrs. Hall.

Fifth Grade
5th graders turned in very impressive and creative Decimal Restaurant/Shop Projects last Friday. We will begin Chapter 6, Adding Fractions with Unlike Denominators after reviewing fraction concepts from 4th grade. There will be a quiz Friday on fraction review concepts (equivalent fractions, adding with like denominators, simplying, and using mixed numbers).  Use Carmen San Diego Math Models, Skills 22-26, to help with Chapter 6 skills. GOMATH Online Access:  To use the website we should continue to share the logins for numbers 1 - 4 ( instead of individual student numbers).
