Please login to treacherease digital locker to print the permission slip for Symphony Field Trip. Permission slips due Friday, Oct. 23

MATH

Fourth Grade

Next week we are continuing to explore multiplication and the many strategies we can use to solve word problems. Our Pumpkin Project is due on Wednesday.  Also on Wednesday we will have a practice test on Computation.  Accuracy in Math is huge, so encourage your student to check his/her work.  I have stressed that when you check your work, use the inverse operation.  The next fact timed test will be Thursday. We are on the 6’s.

Fifth Grade

We will correct the Chapter 2 Review on Tuesday, review estimating with compatible numbers and begin the Chapter 2 Test on Tuesday. Students have a 2 paragraph paper on estimating and checking quotients that is also due on Tuesday.  They will be able to use that paper on the test as it describes those two valuable skills used to help with long division accuracy.

We will review all four operations with Whole numbers and have a Quarterly Computation Test on Friday. We will start Chapter 3 Decimals.

4th & 5th Grade Multiplication Facts
This week we will test on the SIXES!  Think, if I know 3 x 3 = 9, then 3 x 6 = 18 if you get forget a fact!   Most fourth graders should aim for completing 25 facts per minute and fifth graders should aim for completing 30 facts per minute. You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com, play online games (see "Math Websites Tab" above), or borrow some "Holey Cards" from Mrs. Hall.

Religion

Many students have expressed an interest in becoming an Altar Server.  The forms are on the school website.  This week we are going to explore the signs of the Seven Sacraments and how the Sacraments impart grace to us.  They also are one way God manifests His presence with us.  We will be reading in Exodus about Moses and the “burning bush” and 2 Corinthians about how we are a temple of the Holy Spirit. We will also discuss the meaning of a covenant. The three covenants we will be discussing are the Noahic, Abrahamic, and the New Covenant given by Jesus.  We will also be writing our own covenant or contract with a friend or a group of friends.
