MATH
Fourth Grade
This week we are
continuing our chapter on decimals and we will be having a short Quiz on Friday, April 15. Since the end of the year is fast approaching, we
will be moving a little faster through the chapters. My goal is to finish the book,
so we may be skipping some of the easier lessons or combining two lessons at a
time. Looking ahead we will be covering Geometry, Measurement and Data which
are equally tested areas on the Iowa Tests. If you have a protractor at home,
we will need it when we begin Chapter 10. I will be handing back the Chapter 8
test on Monday along with a retake packet. If your student receives a retake,
it will be due on Friday, April 15 or no extra points will be added.
Fifth Grade
5th graders will cover lessons 2 - 7 in Chapter 9 this week. Some of the lessons are review of coordinate grids and line graphs created in science earlier in the year. We will have a quiz on Friday covering lessons 1 - 4. Remember to read vocabulary and lesson done in class each night before starting homework. This chapter contains many new vocabulary words. Students will be given a Line Plot Project/Sheet to complete by Friday, April 22.
4th & 5th Grade Multiplication Facts
Most fourth graders should aim for completing 25 facts per minute and fifth graders should aim for completing 30 facts per minute. Some fifth graders have PASSED all their multiplication facts quizzes. You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com, play online games (see "Math Websites Tab" above), or borrow some "Holey Cards" from Mrs. Hall.
Fifth graders will begin retesting on facts they have not yet mastered this week. Each student received a list of facts to practice each week.

Religion
This week we are continuing our focus on family life. We have been discussing topics such as moods, communication, and characteristics that make up a family unit. I will be handing out paper and envelopes on Monday so that if questions arise that should be parent addressed, your student will write them and give them to you. We had fun sharing our family paragraphs and I feel that the class is becoming more appreciative of their individual family aUpcoming events: Cathedral Days (April 19).
