Week of April 18

5th grade field trip - Tuesday, April 19
Wear Uniforms, lunch is provided!

MATH

Fourth Grade

This week we will be having our Chapter 9 assessment on Wednesday. I know it seems like we are moving fast through the chapters, but the last chapters are considerably shorter. I will be giving Quests (combination quiz and test) instead of Chapter tests for Chapters 9, 10, 11, and hopefully 12. A quest is a shorter version of a Chapter test in that it is more computational, but it will still be weighted as a test. On Thursday we will begin exploring some basic Geometry – lines, angles, and how to distinguish them in plane Geometry.

Fifth Grade

Students did very well on the Chapter 8 Fraction Division Test. 5th graders will finish Chapter 9, Data and Graphing, taking a test on Wednesday and Thursday.  We will begin Chapter 10, Measurement on Friday.  Students will be given a Line Plot Project/Sheet to complete by Wed., April 27.

4th & 5th Grade Multiplication Facts

Most fourth graders should aim for completing 25 facts per minute and fifth graders should aim for completing 30 facts per minute. Some fifth graders have PASSED all their multiplication facts quizzes. You can print your own worksheets from Math-drills.com, play online games (see "Math Websites Tab" above), or borrow some "Holey Cards" from Mrs. Hall.

Fifth graders will begin retesting on facts they have not yet mastered this week.  Each student received a list of facts to practice each week.

Religion

This week we will be continuing our study of the Paschal Mystery – The Death, Resurrection, and Ascension of Jesus Christ. We will also be reading about Mother Teresa, whose life was a reflection of sacrifice of Christ. The field trip to St. Raymond’s Cathedral is on Tuesday, so we will not be attending Mass. Tuesday is also Pastor Appreciation Day so all the classes have made thank you cards that will be presented at Mass. Upcoming events: Cathedral Days (April 19).
