MATH
Fourth Grade
This week we will be starting on Chapter
4. In this chapter we will be
dividing by one digit numbers, estimating quotients, and interpreting
remainders. Now that we are starting division, the students will realize the
importance of learning our multiplication facts. I can’t stress it enough. We will have our 9’s fact test on Friday. Now that the Chapter 3 test is behind us, we can enjoy
our “Number Personalities”. If
everything goes as planned we will have our
first quiz the following Tuesday, November 24 on Lessons 4.1-4.5.
Fifth Grade
5th graders will begin Chapter 5, Multiplying with Decimals. We will cover multiplying decimals by powers of 10, and multiplying decimals by whole numbers showing how to do it with the standard method of multiplication as well as with models, distributive property and expanded form. We will have a quiz on Friday over Lessons 1 - 4. On Wednesday, will have Vocabulary Test covering Chapters 1 -3 and prior grade-level words on Wednesday. Students will receive a study guide to help prepare for the test.
4th & 5th Grade Multiplication Facts

Religion
Great job on the Saint Reports. We will use them to share with the class throughout the year. This Tuesday is Mrs. Lux/Mrs. Hall classroom Mass. It is the
memorial of St. Elizabeth of Hungary. We were so pleased with all the Saint
Reports and will begin sharing them with both 5th grade classes. Finally
we will begin Chapter 4, the “Mystery of the Holy Trinity”. In this chapter we are going to read
Scriptures where all three persons of the Trinity are present and explore the
Nature of God and why it is called a “Mystery”. We will also continue reading about Moses in our bibles.
